Poh Wai Wong asked:

You probably know that there are a lot of people are making money with blogging and you probably want to join them. However, something inside you wasn’t sure about the possibility you being successful in this area. So, the tips below are to help you to clear out your doubt so that you can start making money with this industry.

1. Personal experience

When you look at the money making blog on the internet, many of them are about the author’s daily activities. And for some reasons, a lot of readers are interested to read about other people daily life. It seems like they want to be a part of the author life and maybe learn something from the process.

So, do you have anything to share? But be sure that it is something that is special and arousing. No one like to read about what time you wake up, how you brush your teeth and what you take for lunch everyday. Monotonous and boring stuff don’t seem to help you to make money with this industry.

2. Solution

However, not all people like to expose their personal stories. In that case, can you provide any solution to solve specific problem? Let’s say you are a financial planner. What don’t you talk about credit card debt management in your blog? It is common that professionals share their specific knowledge in the field to start driving income to their pocket.

Besides that, you can even promote services and affiliate link to solve the specific problems in your blog. Many bloggers are already making money with this method. Shouldn’t you start looking into the same possibility too?

3. Customize your blog

Since you know what you want to write about, it is time you customize your blog. You don’t need to put in the latest plug-ins or flashy banners. All it need is to look like you. You just need a clean and clear template so that your readers can read your writing easily.

Then, you need to channel in your personality and show your style in the postings. A lot of bloggers felt difficult to write because they felt that they should be professional and use bombastic words for the posting. But why should you? You are supposed to set yourself free when you are blogging.

4. Take action

Just like any new bloggers, you might be afraid to put what you have read to work. You might be afraid that no one is going to read your blog and you are going to fail this business. You might be afraid that you blog is going to rank deep down in the search engine and shall never see the daylight.

But to tell you the truth, most bloggers have the same feeling when they started their blog. This is just a common feeling when you are venturing into the unknown. Still, that isn’t a good reason why you shouldn’t put your blog forward.

Besides, what are you going to lose? The internet offers quite a number of reputable free blogging platforms. You don’t need to put in any money to build the blog. Even you are to fail in blogging, all you lose is just time and effort.

Anthony

Mujibur Rahman asked:

Johns Wu, a 22 year old entrepreneur from San Marino, CA, USA has created blogging history. He has managed to sell his blog, which he worked on for only two year for a staggering US$ 15 Million.

His blog was powered by WordPress, which has become the blogging software choice for many new bloggers.

Wu’s blog was a financial blog located at the domain: www.Bankaholic.com . He blogged related to personal finance: credit cards, bank rates, loans…

Google trends showed that he was getting approx. 8000 unique visitors to his blog daily. His blog Bankaholics had an Alexa Ranking of 41,904.

The Bankaholics blog was managed as a one man operation by Jons Wu. The man revenue stream were from Google Adsense and other finance related affiliate programs.

A financial information site called BankRate purchased his blog for a massive US$ 15 Million. BankRate negotiated to pay $12.4 million up front, with the remaining sum to be paid over the next 12 months, based on performance. Johns was offered to stay on and assist with the transition for an unspecified time.

This goes to show that finance is a really popular blogging topic. With hardwork and determination most bloggers can start to earn a full-time income from their blogging. You will need to spend time one producing blogs that are of the highest quality.

The income generated from your blog will be determined by the quality of traffic to your blog, the number of posts, and subject of the blogs. The other crucial element is the interaction between your visitors.

If the visitors to your blog like the content, they will keep on coming back and also bring their friends. As your blog starts to grow it will attract more and more visitors and create a buzz on the internet, this can lead to exponential growth in traffic and revenue for you.

Jerome

Anil Garg asked:

If you are blogging for fun, then you can think of blogging about anything you want. But if you are serious about making money with your blog, them you should choose your blog niche very carefully. When we chose a wrong niche for our blog, that will lead to a unsuccessful blog. Here is the list of mistakes we generally make when choosing a niche for our blog:

Some of highest competitive niches are credit cards, loans, insurance, mortgage, internet marketing, blogging, seo, make money, weight loss, health, computers, mobile phones, cameras etc. If you are thinking of blogging about and making money in highly competitive niches like some of niches I mentioned above, you have to remain ready for lots of competition and may have to wait for years for any big results to come in your favor. No doubt, there is lots of money you can make in these niches, but getting on top in these niches is also very difficult. So the key to success with blogging will be choosing a niche with lower amount of competition. There are some people who choose to blog about a niche they don’t understand and are not knowledgeable about that niche. No doubt, we can learn about every niche when we spend some time on it. But when you are choosing the niche for your first blog, you should go for a niche you are most knowledgeable and passionate about. When you to chose a niche of your interest, that will help in creating and promoting your website in search engines. There are some people who start blog with their names or surnames and discuss their personal matters on that blog most of the time. If you are serious about making money with your blog, I would suggest you to choose a topic on which you remain focused on most of the time on your blog like software reviews, digital cameras, Google products, Social media, blogging, seo, affiliate marketing, money making, weight loss etc. No doubt you can be knowledgeable about many niches, but don’t cover too many niches in the same blog. Stay focused on a single niche only on a blog. When we try to cover too many niches, you face the problem of how to monetize this blog because we have readers of different interests. And when we blog about a particular niche like money making only on my blog, most of readers on my blog will be interested in money making matters and thus I can monetize my blog more easily. There are some people even who decide their blog niche just because of someone else is able to make some money in that niche without thinking about their interest or knowledge about that niche. You cannot b successful with a blog if you are not passionate about the niche you chosen for your blog.

Emily

ajit578 asked:

So you finally figured out how to get those visitors to your site, huh? Well, partner, it’s not over. Now you’ve got to keep them there, while also bringing in new people, if you hope for your blog to be effective.

How? I knew you’d ask that…

1. Pay closer attention to your audience than you do to your search engine rankings.

Who knows what way the wind will blow in years to come. You may be able to do without traffic from Google one day – just like you’re probably doing without traffic from Hotbot right now.

However, you’ll never be able to do without your clients and prospects. If you could you wouldn’t be in business, would you?

So pay attention to what your audience wants to hear. If you configure your blog correctly in the first place, you won’t have to worry about a good ranking so much.

2. Shut Up if you have nothing interesting to say. And while you’re keeping your lips tight, find something *really* interesting to say.

Of course, I believe that there’s never nothing to say. But I’m a writer and not everyone thinks that way.

After the first six to eight weeks, post every day if it suits you and you have words of interest. But if you can sense that your posts aren’t full bodied and home brewed, it really is okay to make us go without for a few. We’ll live. We won’t think so, but trust us, we will.

Just make sure you have something darn near-earth shattering to share when you get back, so we will all sit up and take note… and realize that we missed you.

3. When you Do Talk, Do It Loud and Proud (Even if you find out later you were Loud and Wrong)

It’s considered impolite to behave like a Rock Star when you’re having a business dinner, even if you are one.

But guess what? When you’re blogging, you aren’t at a business dinner. That’s not to say that you Have to be a Rock Star. You don’t even have to be a Star. But you definitely want to be noticed, maybe referenced, and hopefully linked. A great way to do that is to be different. The most unique thing about you is You. Inject your personality in all that you do online.

So if you have news, share it. Heck, if you have gossip share it, just always, always, always, link to your suspicions or sources. On the rare occasion that a high-profile blogger’s information is totally off-base, they print a retraction. So don’t be afraid to suppose. Just let us know you are sharing a rumor or a hunch or a fact or an opinion.

4. Do Unto the Blogosphere, and Make It Easy for Them to Do Unto You

When I have credible sources, I link to them. Even if I read something from the Google Blog, but now when I first saw it first at Micropersuasion, I’m still linking to Micropersuasion. That’s all there is to it. (And let me tell you – it’s a Huge deal when Steve Rubel links to an article that you wrote even when it’s not posted on your site – think about that the next time you’re tempted not to link out because "they have enough traffic.")

For the majority of people, I realize, that situation may never be in consideration. Most of the people reading this have nothing to do with search engines, public relations, or internet marketing.

Well, I’m here to tell you that even if your business is timeshare resales, link to your sources. You never know who is reading and who is going to link back. Especially if you’re in a business niche where twenty visitors eventually means at least one sale, find out what the neighborhood is like in your part of the Blogosphere, look around, and play nice with the other kids.

5. Blog Like You Talk – But if You Talk "Funny" Get Someone Else to Blog with You

Nothing will scare your visitors away faster than landing in technobabble by accident. I landed at a friend’s site about search engines, and the first paragraph I saw said somethinga bout (a+n) times the square root of pi and I clicked out before I even remembered why I went there.

Don’t get me wrong – if that’s how you talk, keep it real. But if that’s not the language your clients speak, you might want to either have an employee represent your company in the blog, or do a team blog that represents all the prominent voices.

6. Give Every Subscription Option Under the Sun

Most people paying online are going to use their credit card or debit card, by far. How crazy would you have to be to say, hm, 90% of people use credit cards, but the hell with that. If they want my binoculars, their only choice is to send me $20 by PayPal on Tuesday mornings.

In this same way, refusing to turn on your site feed, because most people are still following you by email makes absolutely no sense. Refusing to start an email list or offer subscriptions to your blog headlines, summaries or posts via email is equally nuts, particularly now that there are tools in place that will translate feeds to email for you.

Not serving as much of your audience as you can is turning down money, plain and simple.

Hopefully these tips will help keep visitors coming back to your blog. It’s like the old adage said, it’s easier (and cheaper) to keep your present customers than it is to constantly find new ones.

Why should your site rank okay for one keyword phrase, when your blog can rank first page for hundreds?
Jasveen Kaur Sidhu asked:

The hackers are inserting hundreds of spammy links that point to drug, credit card and gambling related sites into the header and footer files and then making them not visible when viewing your blog page with a simple CSS manipulation.

There has been an outburst of blog hack attacks recently. The main focus of the blog hack attacks is older versions of the free WordPress blogs that are less than the latest 2.5 version release.

It is rife, it is rampant, it’s a really big problem and the majority of everyday bloggers or online marketing types don’t have a clue they have been hacked and infected with spammy links that will punish their site and any site that is affiliated via links inbound or outbound.

Beefing Up Blog Security

A few things you should do straight away is to upgrade your blog to the latest WordPress 2.5 release. For those that don’t have the patience to read through here’s a quick simplified guide:

• Download and unzip WordPress 2.5

• Back-up your Blog files onto your local drive

• Turn off all plugins

• Delete the wp-admin and the wp-includes folder on your server

• Upload the new WordPress 2.5 wp-admin and wp-includes folder

• Delete the index.php file in the wp-content folder and then upload the index.php file from the wp-contact folder in your 2.5 release

• Delete all top level files except your wp-config file and replace with top level files from the 2.5 release – Remember don’t overwite your wp-config file your database info is kept in here

That’s it you are done! Just re-enable your plugins from earlier and your back up and running as per normal.

They Got IN Now What?

First step is to remove the inserted links: they usually go for the header and footer files. Next alert Google by logging into Google Webmaster Tools (if you don’t have an account then create one it only takes 2 minutes) and click the link on the right hand side titled “Request reconsideration”.

Explain in your statement that you have had your blog hacked and the links have now been removed and the site is clean. Back up your claim by detailing where the spammy links where residing in your code i.e. they start at line 200 or just under the body tag. It may seem obvious but you must consider you are presenting proof to clear your site and your name. Finally, also add what impediment steps you have taken to help beefen up security.

Watch who you link out too!

A hacked site will have some penalties against it: in Google’s eyes you’ll be what is termed as a bad neighborhood.

Audrey

Surinderjit Singh asked:

There are many challenges that we face as internet marketers. The challenges are especially huge for Newbies who have a tremendous learning curve to overcome. There is so much to learn including but not limited to, html coding, css coding, how to purchase a domain etc…these things are huge mountains at first and only the truly tough survive.

It’s so easy to bail out when you keep putting forth effort but see little in the way of results. However, most successful bloggers will tell you that if you hang in there you will eventually find your way and make it. For more details visit to www.bloggers-guide-to-profit.com .Once we get past the initial obstacles in our path to success we only find ourselves faced with even more obstacles. They are just a little more advanced. One of the most misunderstood aspects of internet marketing is keyword selection or keyword research. This is the process of deciding which keywords you will target with your blog.

Keywords are what searchers type into Google (or some other search engine) in order to find the information they are seeking. It is of the utmost importance that you target the right keywords with your blog and marketing campaign. If you fail to target the right keywords (like most of us did when we were new) then you will put lots of effort into your blog for nothing. Picking the wrong keywords can result in not getting traffic to your blog or, even more of a killer, getting traffic to your blog but not converting that traffic in to sales.

There are top level keywords and long tail keywords. Top level keywords are quite broad. Something like “credit cards” or “musical instruments” or perhaps “make money online” -these are all quite broad. Someone could type in ‘musical instruments’ for any number of reasons. For more information logon to www.feed-reader-links.com .These broad, top level keywords generally have lots of searches per month. Lots of traffic to be had if you can harness it. The problem with top level keywords is that they are extremely tough and frankly out of reach for most Newbies.

On the other hand a ‘long tail’ keyword is actually more like a phrase. Something like “musical instruments for sale in Jackson Mississippi” is a long tail keyword. These are the kinds of keywords a newbie should target. They have much less competition because they have much less traffic. Yet that is exactly what makes long tail keywords a practical choice. It is relatively easy to score a page one ranking for a long tail, and the longer the better!

It is not just about targeting the easiest and longest key phrases but instead targeting key phrases that are ‘buyers’ key phrases. Tell me, what kind of traffic would you prefer at your site which sells gardening tools? Traffic that comes from people searching “gardening” or traffic that comes from people searching for, “cheap gardening tools near Palmer Massachusetts”…if you picked the latter then you would be picking the money keyword.

The more specific the search, the more ready the buyer is. They have already done their research and are ready to purchase. Words like cheap, discount and any geo targeted search are almost always money searches. By money searches I mean the folks doing the searching have their credit card in their hands and are fully intending to buy.

Robert

donkeymailer asked:

Can we make money blogging?. It can pay for your invoices. It doesn’t ‘ t work for everyone. It is no secret, and thou shalt must know only really like the first steps and use to follow the blogging framework. It is not a difficult process and in all this contribution is 7 different methods you can use that can generate to significant income from blogging. These seven methods are strategies that can which from the outset to adopt, preferably before you your first blog. They can think they like guidelines that have different options that you if you online serious is about blogging as a way to earn money point.

1. The “Flagship” or big blog this route is simultaneously the most profitable and most time blog dare. The flagship method that checks all for some a few blogs them incredibly popular in their niche. Flagship blogs should have large audiences and a high daily visitor traffic numbers. This type of large blogs have plenty of options miniaturization responsibility with direct advertising sales, a large part of it. Knowledge that not everyone can successfully a great blog create so tempted this route only when you are firmly convinced that you networking skills, knowledge and niches-marketing-know-how, which is needed. Benefits: Fame and more miniaturization responsibility / potential for your blogs besides the personal satisfaction. Another advantage is that blogs when some degree of Fame was achieved in itself automatically, or the rule to promote large market. Con: Very time-consuming especially if you not outsourcing of content creation and marketing tasks. Expect a lot of work and experiment with creative advertising ideas if you choose this path.

2. The “pay per post” or blog route get paid is fairly simple. Set multiple niches blogs on either their own domains or blog hosts like blogger. Maintain it over a period of time and concentrate on writing content and building their Google page rank, link profile and Alexa rank. Submit all your blogs on several payments sponsored for reviews, PayPerPost, LoudLaunch blog, Web sites such as Blogitive, blogsvertise, review me, and then start writing sponsored bodies. I commend very with PayPerPost simply the maximum height of paid-up offerings to them. Benefits: The greatest strength of this method is that you do not need money to make a large audience. 20 People could the visiting and reading your blog everyday and are still in a position to make at least $ 15 per day from each blog. If cleverly is made through multiple blogs, this method can can easily above $ 1.5 K to a month. Con: No passive income. Must spend time, more write sponsored blog posts which can be boring and time consuming. The work will be necessary to maintain multiple blogs, but this will be minimal after they were optimized and run some time.

3. The automated blogging or splog route automated blogging include setting up blogs that drag automatically content from RSS feeds, search engines and news sources, to be content on your website. Some bloggers you put on it to draw in parts of RSS feeds, which go against some copyrights and you can select whether only extracts with a link back include the site in question. Miniaturization responsibility for automated pages is performed the contextual ads like Google AdSense and affiliate programs typically by. Benefits: necessary, the blogs, they need not actively generate or write content maintain very little work. Might do some SEO and regular maintenance now and then. Tip: If you are abenteuerlustig. Disadvantage: A weak potential for profit, if you to understand the whole process and perfectly if you appreciate a fairly large number of blogs.I, that a fully automatic blog the you approximately 5 $ make to the month although the actual value depends on the niche and have your skills. Assuming that this is the case, you must be 1000 blogs around 5000 $ to make per month. Splogs residing in ethical gray areas.

4. The text link selling blog route the most of your income by this method retrieved from the sales text links on various webmaster and companies who want to improve their website ranking Google. During text link works the flagship for the sale or other blog models and can Web sites primarily for text link sales both built. The overwhelming emphasis here on Google PageRank and niche products relevance therefore need to concentrate on these two factors. You can either convert to sell a domain in a text link and sponsors post blog or to sell an existing domain purchase PageRank text links for a fast market. I suggest looking for buyers link directly by Webmaster forum. Services: Sale of text links or contextual text links is quite simple, and may not with a lot of work. Potential for benefit match your Google page rank and niche. Very attractive to be buyers link a Web site with a high page rank and a profitable niche (mortgages, credit cards). How paid review blog, traffic also is not a factor in these blogs. Con: Depending on the Google PageRank algorithm that your income rise or fall depending upon how the actual page rank is means. It can also limit the number of links you can sell that leads to an income ceiling.

5. The made for AdSense or made-for-partner program route that sets setting up a blog to a theme with a fairly high prices keywords (E.g. teeth white, car loans). They must optimize rich articles about, only the creation of approximately 25 keyword to search, to put AdSense and affiliate programs and then they leave alone. The focus is target on building links to specific pages, after the long tail of keywords you want. Search engines visitors will find your blog and either click the ads or convert for a product. Benefits: Not much time as you an experienced writer can usually contract the keyword rich articles involved development. Not much time is needed to the blogs and new material and update on a twice weekly or even monthly added. Disadvantages: Plenty of competition in a profitable niche can search traffic may not cause that a sufficient income if you for volume, and set dozens of similar Web sites in other niches as well.

6. The blog network or contracted blogging route heard this paid to maintain the participation in a blog network and ensure and creating content for blogs. Paid on the amount of page accesses, a characters starting fee in the hundreds or weight may receive from ad blog revenue. Benefits. Relatively stable monthly income because the starting fee. Work by third parties will usually more free blogging or writing tasks because your proven ability or membership of a particular organization. Con: Why the trouble? If you, that set a good promotion to create a blog, your own website and keep all winnings. It is however note that much of the type of network or the contract get agreement, you depends on.

7. The blog as marketing or branding route this method is only applicable if you an online business or a freelance services such as Web design, text, or marketing advice own. A blog can be used to promote of your enter of personal or business brand, attracting more customers. This is an indirect way to earn money. Ideally this a type blog should not with advertising them or paid reviews because she can harm the image of the brand. Benefits. A blog can your brand or company help much more looking to develop visibility because allows you simply more fresh content for certain demographic groups, ideal to create. Disadvantages. Your blog is so useful to urge as the quality of the service or product. The amount of money you earn in full on the quality of your blog, but the value of service / product also. The income is thus indirectly and may be inconsistent.

Jamie

Brenda Moody asked:

Let’s face it, bloggers do spend a lot of time on articles, links and trying to provide good information for their readers. The work does pay off, but it takes some time before a blogger can have enough of an audience to impact the money they make. There are two ways a blogger can make money. One is through people clicking on their advertisements. Unfortunately, because of this there are a vast amount of sites plastered with ads with no real content. The other bloggers work very hard at content and establishing their blog to make money from either adsense clicks or from affiliate advertisements. Growing slowly is another way to make money, a tipjar. This is a real incentive for bloggers to provide quality information on their sites.

The question is, if a blogger does want to add a tipjar to their blog, what are the options?

Paypal offers a simple donation button that can be added to your blog. It is inserted easily by copying a pasting the html code into your template. In order to get the button, you must first have a premier or business account through Paypal. Upgrading doesn’t cost you anything. There are, however, small transactions fees for payments you receive. The benefit of using Paypal is that it is a trusted and secure method or giving or receiving payments and most online users are familiar with Paypal. A user can use a credit card or debit. There is no muss or fuss with paypal and you cut out the middleman.

Here is where you can find out more about setting up a donation button at Paypal:

Log in to your account and choose Merchant Services.

Under buttons, choose donate.

Create your button as you choose.

Add code to your blog template.

You will need a Premier or Business account to use this feature.

Another option is Tipjoy. With Tipjoy, both the sender and receiver of the tip need to have a Tipjoy account. The person tipping can wait for a bill at the end of the month or pay sooner if they choose. The receiver can wait until they have accumulated enough funds and then cash it out through paypal.

The sender intially only has to provide his email and the amount of his tip to tip a blog. He can tip several blogs and at the end of the month, pay his bill at Tipjoy. The payment will be through Paypal.

The receiver also must eventually have an account. Although a Tipjoy tipper can tip to any website url, even those with no Tipjoy account, in order for them to recieve the payment, they need to set up an account. Tipjoy notifies them when they have enough money tipped to be paid.

The downside is that the tipper must have two accounts, Tipjar and Paypal. The upside is that because fewer transactions are made, the blog recieving payments keeps more of the tip than with Paypal donation.

Another tip jar available for bloggers is called Scratchback. Scratchback adds another element to tipping. The blogger can set the tip rate and for each tip recieved, the blogger provides the tipper with an image or a link as a thank you.

The way the fees work at Scratchback as of this writing is that the blogger keeps 90% of the tip after the Paypal fee is taken out.

So for those of you who love the information you can enjoy on blogs and for those of you blogging, tipjars are something you might want to consider. Even a small donation of less than a dollar can put a smile on the face of your favorite blogger. The point is that you are showing encouragement for the continued effort. For bloggers, this is an incentive to create and continue adding quality news for your readers.

Pauline
